My name is Daniel and I am the founder of www.OfficialPokerGuide.com and www.TheOPG.org. Ever since I was first introduced to poker, I became very interested in it, mainly the game of No Limit Texas Hold 'em and wanted to learn everything I could about it. My interest at first  moved very slowly mainly because of school and the fact that it was hard to find a game to play in. During this time, I watched it on TV occasionally and rarely played in a live game. My first "tournament" was made up of 5 players and I ended up finishing in 1st place.

Then one day I was introduced to the world of online poker, and I immediately signed up to play. Now I could play whenever I wanted to, but at first, like all beginners, I was not familiar with the new version of poker. At first, I was winning, but soon after, I started losing and I could not figure out why. I did not actually do anything different, but instead felt confident that I would eventually come out on top. This was a big mistake and cost me some money (good thing I was still at the low-limit tables!), but I eventually started trying new strategies. These strategies were not working either and cost me some more money (still at the low-limit tables). This is when I decided to get a book about poker and read it, and this was also when my interest in the game rose tremendously. From here on, I started renting movies, reading books, and watching the game on TV, as well as playing as much as I could online. I got better, much better, and started approaching the positive in money. I deposited $50 in one website and cashed out with more than $200.

But then, I experienced a series of bad beats, losing me a good amount of money. I again was confused, and then I remembered something I read in a few books. I remembered reading about how some people believe that if you cash out from a website, your account gets some kind of code put on it to make sure you experience bad beats when you play. After reading these books about online poker and the myths they had in them, I thought it was the website fault, not my lack of skill.

So I moved onto a different website, leaving the old one completely behind. The first day I played on my new online poker site, I started with $100 and ended with $300. But back then, I had no money management and soon lost most of it to about $150. When I earned the full amount of points from that website in order to get my $40 bonus cash for depositing $100, I cashed out with about $260 and then I got an idea! I thought it would be a clever idea to play at the most popular sites who offered good cash bonus incentives for your first deposit into the website, so I could earn money while playing. I had decided to sign up for a poker site, play until I reached the requirements to get the bonus, then cash out and do it again at another site. The very next site I played at, I deposited $100 and cashed out with a little less than $400.

I did do this, but it quickly turned into something different. I was now "testing" these sites for a certain period of time and taking notes about them, like the quality of their promotions, game and limit variety, popularity, user friendliness, etc., so that when I finish playing on all of these sites, I know which one was the best. I finished this after about 9 months and my results are in the Poker Site Ratings.

Currently  I play mainly at FullTiltPoker.com as Drusty87. You can find me in the freerolls, $1-$2 and higher ring games, and $20+$2 and higher tournaments...
